Johnson's new aluminum brazing flux is an excellent choice for the low-temperature joining of many aluminum alloys (excluding 5000 series) when using aluminum/silicone brazing rods, or lower temperature filler metals from the zinc/aluminum family. This unique formula contains complex fluoroaluminate salts that begin to melt at less than 850 degrees F, with a highly active range from 950 F to approximately 1000 degrees F.
As with many aluminum joining applications, careful attention must be given to heating the base metal components when using a torch or open flame. This flux particularly favors an automated process where proper controls of the heating are in place. ZincTech-A Flux may be used sparingly, as it spreads very well when reaching its reactive stage. A visible change may be noted wherever the flux has reacted with oxides on the surface however, its residues are not considered corrosive after the joining process.
